“I have been diagnosed with mild depression. But my culture back home doesn’t really acknowledge mental health issues that much. And I was afraid to tell my friends. To be honest, I cried over the entire session during my first time with HEAL. But the peer counselor… It's just so nice to have someone who understands your culture, who's gone through many things you have like studying in a foreign country and negotiating these differences... The counselor gave me that feeling of having someone there with me.”
HEAL is founded by four Chinese international students with academic backgrounds in Psychology.
We combine our cultural experiences with our mental health knowledge.
